Activities on
Bruny Island Tasmania
St Clairs has its own jetty.
Guests wishing to fish, arriving
by water or bringing their own
dinghy may use this jetty. There is a
public boat launching ramp only
a few hundred metres away and
there are many deserted beaches,
suitable for swimming and
picnics, which can only be
accessed by water.
A small, outboard driven boat together with fishing
gear is provided free of charge for guests whilst staying in
the cottage. Please note that the use of any of the
marine facilities is entirely at the guest's own risk. |
|
Fishing is generally good with a wide variety of
fish available according to season and the angler's skill.
We often catch Atlantic Salmon -
'escapees' from the fish farms
in the Huon!
|
| In addition to
boating and fishing, the scenery is breathtaking and many
scenic spots can be
reached by car. Bushwalkers are well catered for and there
are many tracks suitable for both the experienced and the
novice. Visit the penguin rookery at the Neck and see
the wide variety of wildlife. (Did you know that Bruny is
home to the rare 40 spotted pardelote - we often see
them at St Clairs! |

We are
happy to arrange nature tours with a local zoologist or a half day trip
with
Bruny
Island Charters who explore Bruny's
remote south coast by fast cruise boats.
Visit the seal
colony and
view the
spectacular scenery and wildlife from the water! Be as
busy or as relaxed as you wish!
|
| There are a
large number of walks in various parts of the island. Some of the walks go
down to remote and spectacular beaches, like the one shown
on
the left, to Cloudy Bay Lagoon. |
| In many parts
of the island there are small, intimate cafes: the Hot House
Cafe and Penguin Cafe at Adventure Bay and the Lunawanna
Link.
Also, you can take tea and coffee whilst sampling the
exquisite fudges and Chocolates at the Chocolate Factory. |
| Visit the
sites that were made famous by the early explorers
See the history page. |
| The main
activity of the island really, is that of relaxation within
some of Australia's most scenic countryside. |
